Cosmetic Joint Lab

What is the CJLab?

The Cosmetic Joint Lab is a digital platform created to simplify the connection between companies, universities, and other innovation actors. Its aim is to foster innovation among European SMEs by building a strong network of research actors that provide knowledge, expertise, infrastructure, and know-how, supporting the major challenges of the sector.

Through the CJLab, enterprises can identify, from a list of entities, the one that provides the right competences to tackle their problems and needs, access cutting-edge technologies, and collaborate with experts. The platform acts as a bridge between research and industry, promoting cross-border cooperation and accelerating the adoption of digital and green solutions across the cosmetics value chain.

Ultimately, the Cosmetic Joint Lab contributes to the creation of a more competitive, sustainable, and resilient European cosmetics ecosystem, where innovation becomes accessible to all companies, regardless of their size or resources.

How does it work?

The Cosmetic Joint Lab operates completely online.

It brings together two types of partners: universities (or other public entities) and companies.

The universities that have joined the CJLab are referred to as Innovation Partners and offer competences and knowledge in a specific area.

Through the platform, companies can view the dedicated pages of the Innovation Partners and identify the ones most suitable for their needs. Once selected, companies can contact them and share their needs, including challenges they are not able to fully address internally, as well as other structural or technological bottlenecks.

Companies that face specific challenges or wish to deepen their understanding of new topics, emerging sectors, or potential new applications of existing materials can request this type of analysis from the Innovation Partners they consider most suitable.

Benefits for the companies

SMEs can build valuable networks with actors that already possess a wealth of expertise and infrastructure, enabling them to bring challenges and innovation to life.

Joining the CJLab could be a strategic choice for companies because, in return, they will gain insights into how the cosmetic industry is evolving and what will change in the future, allowing them to make the smartest decisions for their business. They will also receive a report on the specific matter they requested, gaining deep insights into the topic they need.

Benefits for the Innovation Partners

The Innovation Partners can bring their knowledge into the value chain and develop further applications for their research results.

The benefits for Innovation Partners are multiple. First, they gain access to data from the European cosmetics sector. This means they have at their disposal a variety of data from industries across Europe, which they can use to study the sector, identify possible new trends, or even analyze real case studies that can enhance their knowledge of the industry.

What are the Innovation Partners required to do? Innovation Partners are asked to complete a brief questionnaire, outlining their expertise and the knowledge they are willing to share with the cosmetic industry.
